This is a relatively expensive recipe with a lot of different ingredients. Chicken breasts, fresh basil, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, a lot of chicken broth and fresh tortellini brings the cost up. The calorie content isn't very high, and the calories also includes bread that's served along side the soup.

To reduce the cost of the soup, try using bullion cubes and water instead of canned chicken broth and possibly omit the fresh basil.

2 packages small fresh cheese or mushroom-filled fresh tortellini (9 ounces), available on the dairy aisle at the grocery store
