If you suddenly get a craving for dessert, however you don't have too much at hand, then this simple and quick dish is always great to make. What you need is simply apples and some vanilla ice cream as well a some kitchen staples such as sugar and cinnamon. It's super easy, quick and of course, delicious. If you happen to have some whipped cream on hand, then you can't go wrong with that either. This type of fruit dish could be made with pears as well, or fruit such as peaches or nectarines for example.

Method:

Wash and cut up the apples. We like to keep the peel on, but that's up to you. Put the fruit in a pot with a scoop or two of sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Let simmer on the stove for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until it achieves the texture you desire. Here you could either let the fruit keep some crunch, or you could go longer until the fruit becomes more disintegrated.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and perhaps some whipped cream.
