These hamburgers came out terrific! The bread turned crispy, the cheese melted, the mustard sauce mixed with the bread, cheese and meat, and the pickles added some crunch. I highly recommend to cook the hamburgers in this fashion in order to achieve an almost panini-like result - very tasty.

Ingredients:
  • Ground Chuck
  • Hamburger buns
  • Thin slices of swiss cheese
  • Thin slices of ham
  • Pickles
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Pressed Garlic
  • Salt & Pepper

Method:

Pack ground chuck into hard hamburger patties, salt and pepper and place on the grill preferably.

Mix 4 parts mayo with 1 part spicy mustard, pressed garlic and salt and pepper.

Assemble the burgers:
Spread the mustard sauce on the buns and top with thin slices of swiss cheese. Place the hamburger on one bun, top with one or two slices of ham and pickles. Top with the other cheese sliced bun and wrap the whole hamburger in aluminum foil. Place the covered burger back on the grill and place either a brick or a cast iron pan for some pressure. Leave on the grill until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted. Possibly turn the burger so the other side gets crispy as well.

Serve with a crisp beer, a nice choice would be Fat Tire! If you need to make many hamburgers, they will stay nice and hot in the foil.
