Blonde Brownies are an interesting treat to have instead of the traditional chocolate brownie. The dough is very similar to chocolate chip cookie dough. Ingredients - 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour, (4 ounces by weight)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/3 cup butter, unsalted
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips (we used half butterscotch and half white chocolate chips instead)
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup chocolate sauce, too drizzle on plate

| Update: October 7, 2011 We just tried this recipe again and it came out great. The only difference this time is that we used an 8 x 8 inch pan instead of a 9 x 9 inch pan. We found last time that if the batch were in a somewhat smaller pan it would be a little chewier - and it was. A great simple recipe. Method Preheat oven to 350 degrees F Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a work bowl. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Mix well and set aside. Melt 1/3 cup butter. Add 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar and mix well. Add 1 beaten egg and vanilla. Blend well. Add flour mixture, a little at a time. Spread in 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle chips on top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
Note: for a different experience we suggest doubling the batch, but using the same size pan for a thicker chewy brownie.
