Conclusion: I had never really used a meat thermometer before this one, but I have gotten used to it. It does make things easier and takes the guessing out of when meats are cooked properly. Update: Recently we had a problem with this model. The probe stopped working and we could not find another sold separately so we had to buy another model. They are only around $15-$20 so it is not too expensive. We are not aware of anyone selling just the replacement probes.
