Sandwich bottom construction. Conclusion: This large size from All Clad is great, if you need something of this size. For the price it could be constructed better, the sandwich bottom construction is not the All Clad way. But this is a large stockpot and it will most likely last a lifetime. This is a classic soup pot with the narrow bottom and high sides. If you need something of this size you should consider this pot, but realize it is not the same construction as their 6 and 8 quart dutch ovens. If it was it would probably weigh 100 pounds though. Any of these large All Clad stock pots would be great to make cheese in or steam lobster. We have a 24 quart pot and it is very large and most people probably do not need anything this large, but it is nice to have around. If you needed anything to put on a large fire, to cook for a lot of people this would be the size.
