I watched a little sleeper of a movie last nite, I realize it was slow at times but nevertheless a romantic love story. Ray Fiennes is such a fine actor conveying such emotion and character development that you can see throughout the movie. I understand that it is based on a early Russian poem of Pushkin's. The camera action, costumes, furniture, musical score and direction are clearly lovely that captures the era of the early 1800's Russia. The fine and special moments of Liv Taylor and Fiennes are beautiful and intense. Not a movie for everyone but for those looking for a sense of history as well as a love story it fits the bill.
