When buyers walk into any home the first impression is a lasting impression. When a buyer finds things crowded into every corner of every room they will soon be thinking more of the clutter than what the rooms look like.

Sellers need to take inventory of everything in their home and make decisions regarding what will stay and what needs to go. Sellers should accentuate the positve and make an effort to take the buyers eye away from defects.

If the home has hardwood floors and are covered by worn carpet then the carpet should be removed. If the windows are cracked and need to be painted then do it.

If the front door squeaks or does not close properly then fix that also. Take those knicknacks that are sitting on tables or bookcases and put them away. Do not have newspapers and magazines all over the Den.

Make sure the kitchen is neat and all the dishes are clean. Have the kitchen cabinets neat and orderly. Buyers will probably open the cabinet doors.

The idea is to have your house show well. The more effort you put into clearing out unnecessary items the quicker you will receive an offer to purchase.
