The Lodge company has been around since the 1800's and their superior quality makes the products a lifetime purchase. The Lodge products have to be seasoned but the Pro-Logic is preseasoned. There are so many choices and sizes that there is one to fit your needs.

Lodge is the only American manufacturer of cast iron left. We have many of their products and they have lasted years, whether over the camp fire, in the oven or on the stove top. They make great products.

Brand & Type: Cast Iron Lodge Dutch Oven

Price range: low

Rating: 8

Description: 7 quart dutch oven

Pros: nice clean design, cast iron

Cons: none.

Conclusion: Lodge is all that remains of American cast iron manufacturers. Most of their pieces are pre season these day and I don't think they make an enamel line like Cusinart or Le Creuset. But what they do make is very nice long-lasting cookware. Every kitchen should have a few cast iron pieces.

" From the stove top to table, this 7-quart Dutch oven is an impressive serving piece. The Gumbo Creole inside? Culinary heaven.

Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:54 pmIt seems like it is getting hard to find cast iron that has not been seasoned these days. Recently we bought this griddle and it came pre-seasoned. This was the first piece we tried this way and it has been great, although we would still prefer not to have it pre-seasoned.

We bought a dutch oven from walmart a few years ago and it was not seasoned. They may still carry the real stuff in their camping area.
