Politics, Hypocrisy, the Media All are Synonymous

John McCain, The New York Times, Politics and Hypocrisy are each fundamentally as alike as they are different.

All one needs to do is substitute a name for the "Politician" or for the type of media, "Print" or otherwise. Whatever the truth turns out to be, and it may never, the damage has already been inflicted on John McCain.

The term "damaged goods" is most probably familiar to those in positions that are vulnerable to spurious allegations. The timing of today's New York Times piece is more damaging to the credibilty of the newspaper. However, the fact that John McCain will spend the next several days and more likely weeks refuting the charges, that were really never delineated, will have the net result of ending John McCains ability to wage an effective campaign.

The New York Times is not "pure" in this endeavor. The tag line of the New York Times "All The News That is Fit To Print" will suffer in the short term. The Hypocrisy here is that the public will most assuredly never find out the real motivation for the publication of this story.

The New York times has already received a reprieve for their action by the way the electronic media has already "sliced and diced" this story, even before the ink was dry on the paper. The Cable Channels have done a "yoemans" job of parsing the story "Ad Nauseum".

The political aspirations of a man may well be damaged beyond any hope of getting to the real truth. The woman in this story, Vicki Iseman, may or may not turn out to be more involved than she has already denied. The greater point, here again is the hypocrisy, is that no credible evidence has been produced by the New York Times to support the story they issued today.

The public will have had its fill of this story beyond their capacity or desire to fully understand how motivation conflict's with truth.
