John McCain is looking to "circle the wagons" and gather the troops together to wage the best possible campaign against Barack Obama and the Democrats. The question yet to be answered is who will be John McCain's running mate? The logical answer is Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Given the fact that John McCain is "old" he will need to select a running mate that is relatively youthful and from the South. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas would be a possible selection. However, there is not much difference in Senator Hutchison's age and that of McCain. Mike Huckabee is no friend of John McCain. It is very likely Huckabee covets the "VP" job. However, John McCain has a great deal of loyalty to Senator Lindsey Graham. That would be the perfect excuse for John McCain to select Graham over Huckabee and Hutchison. John McCain will lose to Barack Obama in November no matter who he selects as his running mate. The greater issue is the senior GOP membership will be satisfied that this election cycle will be the Democrats turn in the Oval Office. Remember, anyone in November but Hillary Clinton!
