Contrast
scale: 1 through 10; does not indicate quality
Description:
Contrast is a rating I use for all media, however, it is used differently for music and film.
In music contrast indicates thematic variation. It is a technical description that shows how many musical ideas go into a song or album. Scoring 1 indicates very few musical ideas and a lot of repetition. 10 indicates a great many musical ideas. Contrast does not determine how well musical ideas are tied together. This rating does not show quality.
In rating film I use the word contrast instead of bright and dark. It is a purely technical term dealing more with a film's quality of having dark verses light imagery. This score does not determine quality in any way. A score of 1 indicates the film uses very dark imagery, 10 extreme brightness, and 5 an even mix between bright in dark.
