I happened to browse the Bloomingdale's website for a mother of the bride dress. And what do I see, but a gorgeous photo of a mother and bride. Naturally, it was spectacular. The mother in a black one-shoulder gown, that was to die for. Simple and elegant, timeless and classic - I guess that's what they were going after and believe me, it worked! Who could resist a picture that captures all the emotions of a mother and daughter on her wedding day. Anyway, the site offered so many gorgeous formal designs that captured ideas, if not inspirations. The breathtaking long dresses and gowns from designers such as David Meister, Laundry, Ralph Lauren and Tadashi were in a class of its own. I loved the clean, simple lines that make a dress a classic and timeless.
Yes, you want to complement the bride as you should - because you're going to have these memories, if not these pictures for awhile, at least. The stunning silhouettes of sheaths, a-lined or flared and flowing, were sophisticated and romantic. Colors of black to navy - sonoma to slate were sophisticated, tasteful and suave. Of course, I did see several that were outstanding, and I'll share them with you. One was the David Meister chic one-shoulder and the other was a romantic Ralph Lauren. Two completely different styles but both simple and elegant. The breathtaking dresses so stylish and fashionable in contemporary and versatile designs could be worn for another social affair. So that was a plus, prices ranged from about $250 and up, but the quality of construction and fabrics were a bonus.
Well, the more I was looking outside the box, for an innovative design, the more I was drawn to the more formal, yet red carpet design, an opulent yet dramatic style.
