Simple and at the same time elegant, that's what I was looking for in a mother of the bride dress. I wanted a richness of quality with a timeless appeal. Well, my first stop was at Lord & Taylor's Wedding Shop. There I saw designers such as Kay Unger, Adrianna Papell, Tadashi and JKara among others display their gorgeous dresses. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, but you know as well as I do, that you have to try on a few dresses, especially if it has to be altered. My daughter is getting married in the evening, so I was going for a formal look - a gown that was beautiful, comfortable and fit perfectly. In my search, I liked the elegant design - a simple long dress in a dignified, timeless and graceful style. I know my definition of elegance isn't the same as yours, but I like an understated appearance. A dress that's flattering and eye catching without being over powering - a dress that you wear and the dress doesn't wear you. Someone saying you look beautiful and not just the dress is beautiful. An overall fashion statement in a refined silhouette. Anyway, I saw one-shoulder, ruched, beading, sequins and capelets in a variety of modern designs that might work for me. Then I noticed a evening dress and jacket set that was quite nice too. I loved all the feminine fabrics from chiffon to taffeta.
But I felt I should try Dillard's, to see what they had to offer. Well, I was not disappointed, in fact, I thought they had a wider selection. Alex Evenings, Jessica Howard and a few other designers all had some lovely designs in bolero jacket dresses, sleeveless, lace, shawls or a twin set and skirt. These beautiful creations, in flowing fabrics, were exactly what I was looking for in a mother of the bride dress. I especially liked the Alex Evenings bolero jacket dress, but it came in black and I wasn't quite sure that would work for me, so I looked at the Jessica Howard bolero jacket dress, in a stunning eggplant shade, that would complement me and the wedding party. I was especially drawn to the idea of a jacket, as it gave a sleeker appearance for a ceremony and the option of taking it off at the reception.
In conclusion, I purchased a beautiful mother of the bride bolero jacket dress in a gorgeous shimmer color, that fits perfectly, in a flattering and should I say simple and elegant manner. A dress that lives up to its name - stylishly elegant. And I couldn't be more delighted! Jessica Howard Bolero Jacket Dress
