 An Uncanny Experience, Part II

Frank was quite naturally taking on increased responsibility and pressure from the business. As a result of all of it he was weakening physically. This by itself was not damning but what was was the loss of his new business contact. You see that Mr. Jenks up and vanished or that was the impression given as there went Frank's increased business as well. It was all starting to get noteworthy, the loss of business and now loss of health.

On one outing out together Frank relayed all of this to me. He said he could in no way account for the disappearance of his new contact. It was quite mysterious. He asked if I had any advice. I asked if he had looked up any of the information present on his card or other papers. Frank said he had already been to the place the contact information suggested but the office had never heard of a Mr. Jenks. Yes, it was all starting to get even more mysterious. The night soon ended however and we agreed to meet again the following week. I wished him good luck with his health and business and soon parted.

I went home to my study and sat there reminiscing about Frank and his good and bad fortune. I began to philosophize on the ups and downs of business. At times times are good and the profits mirror these good times. At times times are poor and the profits mirror these times as well. And the only thing I could think of was that this Mr. Jenks represented good times or profits to Frank and now without him Frank is experiencing the other side or reality of profits.

You see, it was not all that long ago that I readily struggled to get by and had the same experiences with profits. Now of course I have my trusty study which looks out onto the rain soaked nights, but then I was sure something was heavily against me. I was sure something was pulling me down. The only avenue it all pointed to was those you knew. And I did not know all that many people, outside of Frank. And as of today Frank does not know all that many people outside of me.

In any event, I took all of this in stride as I began reminiscing about our two's friendship. I reminisced about the good times and bad. I was thankful for him being a friend to me all of these years. I was dwelling on all of this when what did I notice but a sound or two coming from outside. Outside my study's window there were some noises like someone moving about. I turned towards the window and its rain streaked glass when what did I notice but a familiar gaunt fact plastered to it with hands on either side of it looking directly at me.
