There are numerous euphuisms; failing to plan is planning to fail, do not put all of your eggs in one basket, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it may be a train heading toward you.

How one thinks through any plan/concept/idea usually has a significant impact on the efficacy of that plan etc. The more intricate/complex/arcane the concept logically the more difficult it is for those responsible to implement, measure, and followup.

Keep it simple stupid may have the most value in learning how to plan. each time a person or group goes through the planning process the more likely the quality of their product may be of use. In other words practice does make for perfect!
