This recipe is very expensive to make and it contains a lot of calories. Ingredients such as pasta, bacon and gruyere cheese bring up the calorie content and the gruyere cheese in particular brings up the cost.

To reduce the cost, possibly substitute the gruyere with some sharp, aged cheddar cheese, however the flavor won't exactly be the same.

1 cup whole milk
Freshly ground black pepper
2 cups shredded Gruyere
Pinch freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
