Thurs., Mar. 10th – The Struggle for Sustainability in Rural China. Dr. Bryan Tilt of OSU, and author of the book “The Struggle for Sustainability in Rural China: Environmental Values and Civil Society,” will discuss pollution in China's rural industrial sector and its implications for the environment and community health. Drawing on recent ethnographic research in an industrial township in rural Sichuan Province, he explores how community members understand the linkages between air and water pollution from nearby factories and their health and well-being, and how they focus on the mobilization of civil society to address industrial pollution and its health effects. 7:00 p.m., Thursday March 10th, Corvallis/Benton County Public Library.
