Former Corvallis City Councilor Rob Gandara has announced he will run for Mayor of Corvallis, Oregon in 2010. Gandara ran for Mayor in 2006 but lost to current Mayor Charlie Tomlinson. Tomlinson has decided to not seek election in 2010. Gandara is 47 years old and currently owns a company called Pipe Makers Union, that makes wind instruments out of carbon fibers. Previously Rob Gandara worked for Hewlett Packard from 1995 until 2005. Gandara will be running against Julie Manning the only other declared mayoral candidate to this point. Manning is an executive with Samaritan Health Services. Corvallis needs a high level of leadership from the next Mayor and from the members of City Council. There are numerous issues that need to be addressed relative to the future of Corvallis none of which is more crucial than the economic future of Corvallis.
