Wednesday April 20th this newspaper was with a group from Corvallis Senior Center that ventured out to Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge. We numbered ten hardy & adventuresome souls. The start of our hike was at a parking area on the South side of Wintel Rd.
The boardwalk took us through an Oregon Ash Wetland. This wetland floods in Winter and dries out in Summer. Wood ducks are often seen on the pond. Great Blue herons, Canada Geese, and Egrets can also be seen.
Where The boardwalk ends a trail through a forest habitat continues for about another one half mile.
We found lots of deer tracks along the forest trail and lots of canada geese overhead.
Our visit was fun and do recommend this area to others. It is an easy walk for most everyone.
