Philomath was the place to be on Saturday afternoon. The reason was cars, lots of cars, classic cars, what young boys dreamed about when I was a boy. The only difference in those dreams was the decade of the classic cars dreamed about.
The Philomath Chamber of Commerce hosted the event at Philomath City Park. The weather was sunny and warm, typical of July in Oregon. There was the sleek 1958 Chevy Impala, I had one a long time ago. Then there was the 1940 Ford, the car I always wanted 50 years ago when a 1940 ford was not that old!
Hundreds of people wandered through the many rows of classic cars and some not so classic. I do not consider cars from the 1970's classics! Anyway for those of us that are up in years a bit the day was pure nirvana. It seems to me that those of us that are over a certain age fondly remember actually driving these classics before they became classic! Some of my favorites include the 1950 Ford, 1956 Thunderbird, 1948 Chevy, and 1939 Ford. This year marked the 15th anniversary of this event.
