Occupy Corvallis members spent part of today demonstrating in front of the Corvallis Main Post Office, Monday morning, December 19th. About a dozen individuals marched with signs vocalizing their support for maintaining Postal Services as they are currently.

Leah Bollger, spokesperson for Occupy Corvallis, spoke of the fact that Postal Workers do an excellent job. Postal Unions are one of the largest and strongest Unions in the United States, stated Bollger. Postal Officials in Washington D.C. have announced plans to close many rural post offices and specifically the mail processing facility in Springfield, Oregon.

Occupy Corvallis members spoke defiantly that they wanted no closures of any rural post office and wanted the mail sorting facility in Springfield to remain open.

Postal jobs are important to families and the services provided by the United States Postal Service are essential to all residents of Oregon, stated the Occupy Corvallis demonstrators.
