Mike Bonetto has offered to meet with us on Friday, March 4th at 1:30 p.m. . in Corvallis since he is not able to speak at the Workshop on March 12th!
We will want to make the best use of his time so need to define the agenda thoughtfully.
some ideas include:
. Clarification of specific aspects of the Transformation Committee's work ...Joe Zaerr and I have been attending these meetings and can brief MVHCA members at our Feb. 18th meeting. This new committee of the Oregon Health Policy Board is charged with re-designing the health care delivery system for persons on the Oregon Health Plan to achieve improved quality, population health and LOWER COSTS....as you can well image, it's charge is motivated by the fiscal crisis in Oregon. The long range intent is to use this redesign eventually throughout the entire Oregon health care "system"
. Obtaining Governor Kitzhaber's position on single payer legislation. This may be the only time we can get that close to the Governor on this subject. We know that the single payer bill, Affordable Health Care for All Oregon, will probably not reach his desk for signature, but we need to know his ideas on what's good and what he thinks should be changed. As part of that conversation, it would be good to know his position on Senator Morse's bill for a dedicated sales tax.
