This week started off well with a Monday morning hike with the Marys Peak Group Chapter of the Sierra Club. We gathered in downtown Corvallis and carpooled out to our destination, McDonald Forest, about seven miles North of Corvallis. We set out along a forest road at Lewisburg Saddle and then down Horse Trail to Dan's Trail gaining about 700' in elevation. We concluded our approximate 4 mile hike at Chip Ross Park. Our hike took us through mixed forest and we passed by an old orchard along the trail.
The weather could not have been more gorgeous. Brilliant sunshine, literally not a cloud in the sky, and great temperatures to hike. The temperature at the start of the day was in the in the lower 60's and rose to the low 70's by the time we reached the end of the trail.
Thanks to all the great folks who participated. Conversations were, as always, most interesting. Appreciation goes out to Barry Wulff and Leslie Hogan for leading our stalwart group.
