Inaugural Half Marathon Corvallis April 10 2011

The weather was cool and cloudy and the 1800 runners were ready to initiate the inaugural Corvallis half marathon on Sunday morning. Oregon State University President Ed Ray and Corvallis Mayor Julie Manning spoke of the signifigance of today's event.

At precisely 9:30 am the race began across from Gill Coliseum with more than 1800 runners heading North parallel to the railroad tracks and then winding their way towards Bald Hill and ultimately returning to the OSU campus to the finish line.

The Oregon State University band provided some energizing songs to get the runners as well as the spectators fully charged for the day's festivities.

The after five Corvallis Rotary Club sponsored this event with numerous other sponsors including Good Samaritan Hospital and Oregon State University.

The winner in a time of one hour seven minutes and sixteen seconds is Corvallis resident Michael Wisniewski 32 years of age.

Becky Manual, 31 years old, from Beaverton, Oregon was the winner in the women's division.
