Over the weekend there was much ado about books in Corvallis. The Friends of the Library held their Annual Book Sale at the Benton County Fairgrounds Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.

Corvallistidbits was there Friday evening and again on Sunday morning. Picked up a number of interesting books including one on the Foreign Service and one Herbert Hoover, another on Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin and of course one on Baseball, never leave sports out.

There were lots of people purchasing all types of books on Friday evening and on Sunday, that is a good thing. My only concern is with all of the technology being advocated in all school systems nationwide will young people have any hard cover books in the future?

Moreover will homes have bookshelves full of books? Somehow that has always been a comfortable thought with me, always like to be surrounded by books, a feeling of knowledge at hand I suppose.

In any case books in Corvallis seem to be as popular and as important as ever, let us keep it that way!

The book sale was run totally by volunteers. All Proceeds benefit the Corvallis Benton County Public Library system.
