Dr. Jill Stein, Green Party candidate for President, was in Corvallis yesterday speaking to a small but enthusiastic group at the United Methodist Church. About thirty supporters, including two Corvallis City Councilors and Green Party members Richard Hervey and Mike Beilstein, heard Dr. Stein speak to the issues that in Dr. Stein's words, both President Barack Obama Democrat and Republican candidate Mitt Romney were deficient.
Dr. Stein is from Massachusetts and has run for political office on several occasions including debating Mitt Romney. Dr. Stein told last nights audience that she was the winner of that debate with Mitt Romney per the number of votes she received via Internet sources.
Dr. Jill Stein called for "A new deal for America" in her remarks last night. Stein laid blame on both major political partys, Republicans & Democrats, for the circumstances Americans are dealing with at present. Stein stated, "Our breaking point has turned into a tipping point", referring to the opportunity that exists with so many disaffected voters from all points on the political spectrum.
Stein went on to say that there is a change in thinking in the American electorate from "A Politics of fear to a politics of courage.... We are reclaiming our political voice."
Dr. Stein spoke of the big money in Politics. Stein told her local supporters that "We are close to receiving Federal Matching Funds....We don't accept money with strings attached." Stein's candidacy will not take money from any organized group or company that is represented by a Lobbying Group or Lobbyists.
Dr. Stein made a plea to members of the Oregon Pacific Green Party to register more voters as members of the Green Party. This is essential in order to get on the November ballot in Oregon.
Stein's philosophy and political position is "Stop wasting trillions on Wall Street, and tax giveaways for the wealthy. Make our economy work for everyday people."

Thu May 17, 2012 3:28 pm Name: Cory Allen Comment: A vote for a third party is unfortunately a wasted vote. Even if the Green Party received 10% of the vote it would only mean one thing, the Republicans in the White House. Ron Paul is no different either. Remember in 1992 when Ross Perot helped defeat Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton won? Money sent in to any third party may be a feel good thing but nothing substantive.
