The Corvallis City Council opened last nights meeting with a presentation of a check in the amount of $630,000 to the City of Corvallis from the Corvallis Benton County Public Library Foundation. Present at the presentation were Librarian Carolyn Rawles-Heiser and Foundation member Jacque Schreck.

Rosie Toy from the Library Foundation made the presentation presenting the check to Corvallis Mayor Julie Manning. The money was raised over the past three years via fund raising.

These funds will insure that any future expansion of the Corvallis Benton County Public Library will be able to use the entire block from Monroe to Jackson and from Sixth to Seventh Street.

There is no timeline for development. We felt that we needed to buy that piece so that the library would have it if it ever needed to expand. It will still remain as it is only the occupants now have a new landlord!! :)
