The Corvallis League of Women Voters Candidate Forum took place at the Corvallis Public Library Thursday, October 18, 2012. Approximately 80 citizens were in attendance to listen to the candidates explain why they were seeking the office of Corvallis City Councilor Ward 7. Paul Woods, Bruce Sorte and John Detweiler are seeking to replace retiring Ward 7 incumbent Jeanne Raymond.
Paul Woods spoke of his credentials and experience as an Electrical Engineer and his success at being able to resolve complex issues with a high degree of success. Bruce Sorte was a City Councilor in the 1990's and has experience in Government. Sorte is currently an employee of Oregon State University. John Detweiler, retired Naval Officer and retired Government employee spoke of his experience working with problems, budgets and complex statistical problems.
Each of the candidates spoke of his resolve to bring fiscal restraint to how budgets were crafted.
Ward 7 has had changes in boundaries due to population shifts. This election will chart the direction the City of Corvallis.
