Corvallis Celebrates 50th Anniversary of "I have a Dream Speech"

Last night in the Community Room of the Corvallis Public Library the Corvallis Martin Luther King Commission celebrated the 50th anniversary of the "I Have a Dream Speech". Martin Luther King spoke those famous words on August 28, 1963.

The audience of about 30 included Jasper Smith, Chair of the MLK Commission, Esmeralda Reyes Vice Chair, Megha Shyam ,Luis Rosa, Chareane Wimbley-Gouveia, Marna Claywoman, Joseph Orosco,  Roni Sue, Corvallis City Councilor Bruce Sorte, Council Liaison and retired City Councilor Jeanne Raymond.

There was a Reading of the “I have a dream” speech and a community discussion on how far we have come and how far we have yet to go in fulfilling the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King.
