September is already here, summer 2012 will soon be but a memory. We decided to spend this first day of September, mother nature providing yet another beautiful day of sunshine and near perfect temperatures, visiting one of the many wineries in the Willamette Valley. Getting off to an early start we first stopped by the Corvallis Farmer's Market for some fresh veggies and some delicious homemade pastries.

We then drove south from Corvallis on highway 99 and found ourselves trying to decide which winery to make our destination. Tebri Vineyards in Monroe was our first stop but unfortunately we were a bit early as we were told we would need to come back in about 20 minutes. That being the case we made Brigadoon Wine Company our next best choice.

Brigadoon Wine Company is located in Junction City, Oregon on Ferguson Road. It is quite easy to find there are lots of signs pointing the way. The owners Chris and Sheree Shown are wonderful hosts and very easy to engage in conversation. There is a new tasting room at Brigadoon Wine Company with outdoor picnic tables to enjoy a lunch with some very good wine.

Brigadoon Wine company sits on about 66 acres in a secluded canyon in the foothills of the Coastal Range about midway between Corvallis and Eugene, Oregon. Quite the easy trip from either location. The perfect climate for growing excellent grapes.

We decided on a bottle of Brigadoon Pinot Noir "Lylee" 2010 vintage. The name "Lylee" is a combination of Chris' and Sheree's middle names. To hear Chris Shown tell it, "This Pinot Noir is the best $30 dollar Pinot Noir for $20 dollars." I did not find Chris' statement to be an exaggeration! Brigadoon Pinot Noir 2010 Lylee was very very good!

I would definitely make another trip to Brigadoon Wine Company and recommend you do the same.  Per their brochure they are open Wednesday-Sunday, 12 pm until 5 pm April-December, or by appointment.
