On Saturday the Corvallis Audubon Society conducted an educational program on birding, "Birds 101". The Hesthavn Nature Center, 8590 NW Oak Creek Drive Corvallis, was the venue. About a dozen interested Corvallis residents were introduced to "how to be a better birder".

Michele Croft conducted the lecture. Some of the hints she shared to be a better birder include, use your ears, look for field marks, stand still, look for movement, & pshing (using calls). The best time to bird is early in the day. Overcast days are the best times to see and hear activity.

The State bird of Oregon is the Western Meadowlark. More programs are planned. Look for announcements in Corvallistidbits.
