AFTER THE FIRE Documentary Film to be Presented in Corvallis
The Corvallis Fire Department is excited to announce that on February 22nd at 7:00 pm. at the LaSells Stewart Center on the Oregon State University campus the recently completed documentary film AFTER THE FIRE (a story of Heroes & Cowards) will be presented by the films director Guido Verweyen.
AFTER THE FIRE, based on the Pulitzer Prize story and NYTimes bestseller, tells the inspiring survival story of freshmen roommates Shawn Simons and Alvaro Llanos after the tragic Seton Hall University fire, that killed 3 students. And it is the story of the search for the arsonists—and the elaborate conspiracy that nearly obscured the truth.
Both Shawn and Alvaro will be joining Guido during the films presentation and will share their incredible and inspiring story.
Recent press include The NYTimes ( "A POWERFUL EXPLORATION ON TRUTH & HUMANITY"), FilmThreat.com just reviewed AFTER THE FIRE as: "ONE OF THE MOST COMPELLING DOCUMENTARIES IN RECENT YEARS"
Guido Verweyen's other directing credits include NBC's Starting Over (for which he won an Emmy in 2005), America's Next Top Model/CW, The Bachelor/ABC, Gone Country/CMT, Hilary Duff's "This Is Now"/MTV.... and was DP for the Oscar nominated documentary "The Man On Lincoln's Nose" .
The short film will be of particular value for resident students but should also have significant interest for faculty, staff, and local residents. Shawn and Alvaro will share not only the tragic experience of surviving the fire and their long and painful road to recovery but also how their friendship helped them through the experience and how they are striving to be an inspiration to others.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
