Beginning today June 1st I will be chronicling weekly the progress/growth in my raised bed vegetable garden. The area is roughly 10' x 8' (80 sqft), not terribly large but quite sufficient.corvallis gardening

In this area I have planted one pepper plant, one roma tomato plant, one cherry tomato plant, one plum tomato plant some basil and parsley. I will add one or more additional items before the week is over.

Most anyone can make themselves a raised vegetable garden at minimal expense. Obtain some used wood or purchase some new stock at Home Depot or Spaeth's Lumber. You will need about 40 board ft. in total. Then get some good loam top soil and mix in some plant nutrients.raised gardening beds

The area you select should have good drainage and ample sun for at least 8-10 hours a day. A water source nearby is a good idea since summer rains are infrequent.

If you want some hints at gardening I will do my level best to assist or you can speak directly with your local nurseryman or gardencenter.

I will let you know how things go one week from today on June 8th. Until then good gardening!
