The most recent Zogby Poll reflects essentially each and every point I have been telling you, the readers of my web site. Go, to Corvallistidbits.com and read my earlier postings. President Bush's poll numbers are at 29%, Congress is even more pitiful at 11%. The public has almost zero confidence in our elected leaders.
Then why for goodness sake is there not more outrage in the media? All of the "pundits", Russert, Matthews, Brian Williams, Katie Couric etc. shout and cajole, but yet never seem to get beyond worrying about the ratings of their respective shows. Maybe it is because each of the aforementioned are merely script/teleprompter readers.
Why is there not an intelligent dialouge, discussion, conversation, op-ed pieces, that call out the poor performers in Government and require "performance" or "resignations" of those politicians so incompetent they worry only about how to get re-elected.
In the private sector no CEO or Company President would be in that position for very long if the numbers were not good. It is long overdue to have our Government work more like a business. It is probably "pollyannish" to think that this would/could happen.
Inflation is the "specter" that is looming large, waiting to step out of the shadows. Oil prices are heading higher, $100 per barrel is projected by Oil man Boone Pickens. The PPI and CPI are indicators that need to be watched.
Well, I do not want this essay to be a diatribe. The plain facts are that the "mortgage crisis" is not over, Consumers cannot maintain their current level of spending. The United States cannot spend itself out of recession.
It was in this scribes judgment a bad call on the part of Fed. Chairman Bernanke to reduce the Discount rate and Fed Funds rate by 50 Basis Points each..............
