The State of Oregon will have new reqirements for a Drivers License effective July 1. Many immigrants in Corvallis and around the State of Oregon will have decisions to make. Gas is at $4 per gallon and those immigrants who may find proof of citizenship an issue may have to give up their only means of transportation, their vehicle. The trickle down affect of the new license law may hurt more than the immigrants themselves. Those businesses, auto dealerships in particular, may need to revise their business plan for the remainder of 2008. The immigrant population contributes a large percentage of business to many dealerships around the State. Other employers may find it difficult to operate if these workers have no way of getting to and from their jobs. www.gazettetimes.com
