On Saturday we decided to take full advantage of the beautiful weather and took a ride to the coast. We left at 8 am Saturday morning and in 90 minutes we were just about in Lincoln City. There was a hint of a breeze and a slight chill in the air at 9:30 am in Lincoln City.  The economy remains "soft" and so we decided not to leave on Friday evening and spend the night. A $100 dollar motel room was not in our budget. This fact apparently has had an impact on the hotels and motels in Lincoln City. At 9:30 am the places we drove by had plenty of vacancies from Friday night. Anyway we decided to head to Safeway in Lincoln City to purchase some staples for a "Brunch" on the beach. Safeway in Lincoln City was holding a "Grand Opening". Their service was superb. We bought some salami, cheese and wine to go along with olive Parmesan bread. We brought our chairs and blanket down to the beach, enjoyed the sun and certainly enjoyed the day. It was actually quite nice, not cool, not hot. The Sun was warm to the face and the surf was fairly rough. The water was warmer than expected. We did not swim , just the fingers and toes. After our time in the sun we rode over to the Tanger Outlet Mall. We were surprised to see so many vehicles in the parking garage. There were as many as any summer weekend in July or August. I am sure that the sales in every store was a major factor in the crowds. Tanger Outlet Mall had mailed 20% off coupons to us and so we wanted to see first hand just what was on sale. Something to point out: the 40% off plus another 25% off plus the 20% coupon should be looked at cautiously. It appeared that most every item was at list price. That first 40% off was in my judgment the usual discount price. Anyway there were some good buys. Shoppers just needed to be "sharp and prudent" at what was on sale. The day went quickly and we returned home to Corvallis before sundown.
