A city Councilor is elected from each of Corvallis' nine wards to serve a two year term. Nomination packets are available for those interested in running for election.

Candidates must: be registered voters who have lived in Corvallis for at least a year. Live in the ward they seek to represent. Gather 20 signatures from registered voters in the ward.

The City Council is the City's official policy and decision making body. Councilors meet twice a month  and are assigned to one of three council standing committees. Councilors are also members of the City Budget Commission and act as liaisons to various advisory committees.

Councilors spend an average of 10 to 15 hours per week on city business and are eligible to be reimbursed for expenses incurred on official duties.

Nomination packets can be picked up at City Hall, 501 SW Madison.
