Corvallis water bills could increase by more than 4%, if the Corvallis City Council approves a request from the Public Works Departmnent on Monday.

Public Works Officials suggest rate increases of 7% to city drinking water rates and 3.5% for wastewater utilities, resulting in a 4.4% combined rate boost in order to cover day to day service as well as future projects.

Starting in 2009, the rate increases would reload the $4 million dollars spent to replace filters at the water plant and improve water storage. City storm water rates have remained steady since 2001.

If approved the new rates would go into effect in February 2008.
