Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris is one of those wines that is simply a pleasure to enjoy with special people. This Pinot Gris is simply stated a special wine. I have enjoyed many very good Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I must acknowledge Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris is among the top two or three of my favorites.

This wine is floral, a bit citrus with a tinge of spice. On Balance the bouquet was like ambrosia in a bottle, Smooth yet substantial, excellent with our specially prepared meal.

I  have already enjoyed subsequent bottles since our trip to the Sokol Blosser tasting Room on the day of the summer 2012 Solstice. I do recommend it and give this wine an "A" rating.

Sweet Earth Vineyards Pinot Gris Review

Memorial Day Weekend is almost a memory as I write this wine review at dusk on Monday evening. Time does fly when you are busy and especially when you are having fun. This afternoon we enjoyed a bottle of Sweet Earth Vineyards 2011 Pinot Gris with our evening meal.

We were so busy today that we had what might be best described as a buffet supper, sandwiches with all the fixin's! The addition of a bottle of Sweet Earth Vineyards Pinot Gris added a special touch to our meal. Sweet Earth Vineyards is located just outside Monroe, Oregon and is owned by Nancy & Phil McCullum.

This Pinot Gris was quite nice, citrus bouquet, light, semi sweet but yet just tart enough with a lemon, peach, and mango sensation on the palate. The only complaint from our dinner partners was, "Why did I not get two bottles"! Well, perhaps next time.

This Pinot Gris sells for around $15 and is available at the Vineyard in Monroe. They have a very nice tasting room that is open from 12-5 pm most weekends through Labor Day. Check with Nancy & Phil as they are busy adding a new outdoor gazebo and will be closed for about a week from June 23rd to July 1st for that construction.

Yes, I will purchase another bottle of Sweet Earth Vineyards Pinot Gris, loved it! I rate this wine as "A".

Rex Hill Pinot Gris Vintage 2009 Review

I am just getting around to writing this review from a year ago! The photos and my notes were in my September 2012 folder, just sitting there waiting for this moment!
We purchased this bottle of Rex Hill Winery Pinot Gris from Safeway in Corvallis last year for Labor Day.

Typical of a Pinot Gris this one was clearly a citrus base with some hints of pear and peach. In addition there was a mild bite of pepper which did make this Pinot Gris distinctive!

We chilled this wine for about 20 minutes in the fridge. We enjoy our Pinot Gris' cooler than typical room temperature, more refreshing that way. This wine was a perfect complement to our steak and artichoke salad labor day meal.

Rex Hill Pinot Gris was a hit with our Labor Day dinner guests. Great wine, would purchase this Pinot Gris again.
