Today is February 12th, Abraham Lincoln's birthday. There was a time when school children had this day as a holiday along with February 22, Washington's birthday as another separate holiday. At least that is the way it was in the halcyon days of old in the 1950's. In the here and now President's Day has taken the place of both these holidays and this year will be celebrated next Monday, February 16th. Abraham Lincoln had a profound affect on our Nation. We may have been several nations rather than one contiguous nation from the Atlantic to the Pacific had not Abraham Lincoln prevailed in keeping our Union togeteher 144 years ago.
