Spring is here and it's about time for another fun project. This new plan involves painting my concrete garage floor. I've waited until the weather has turned a little bit warmer so that I can clean the garage. And over the winter it certainly needs a new and improved look and now at least the car can stay outside for a few days. So after I clean and try to reorganize the garage shelves and throw out all the old and unused paint I'm in the mood to tackle the floor. According to the instructions you should prime the floor first. So that's where I'm going to begin. My sister recently used BEHR products and was so pleased with the results that I'm going to also use them.
I'm leaning towards the 1 part epoxy since there's no mixing, can be used for both inside and outside concrete, easy to use as well as an quick clean-up. The idea of being resistant to chemicals and gasoline spills is a definite plus. And that's exactly what I was hoping for. I'm trying to outline the entire process as to have all my supplies at hand so I don't have to run out of materials in the middle of my production. So I purchased cleaning supplies, rollers, buckets, brushes and everything else I'll require for this project. Should make life a little bit easier - hopefully.
So I've narrowed my choices to the BEHR 1-Gal. Satin 1-Part Epoxy Acrylic Concrete and Garage Floor Paint for all of the reasons above I could think of to create a new and polished surface with a nice satin finish. The other BEHR product is the premium. This is a high performance that also works on hard to clean interior and exterior concrete that " Water-based acrylic finish resists scuffing, fading, cracking, peeling and blistering". So I'll have to decide between the two for a better outcome.
I browsed the Home Depot website for information, classes, buying guides and videos to make this task an easy process. And what a help it was! The selection of brands, prices, reviews and colors was fun as well as informative. Colors of white, gray, tan/brown and clear were a nice choice for my needs and I wanted a product that would go on smoothly giving a nice finish. So, I'll begin this process on a nice and sunny day, listen to some music and roll my garage floor til it shines. Of course they'll be plenty left over for the basement, walkways and driveways!
