Commercial sliding door hardware should, needless to say be more substantial and durable than hardware for residential homes. Of course, if a piece of hardware is really well made, then the line between what's commercial and what's residential definitely gets a bit blurred. Take measurements, write down the brand if visible, and take it from there when you go visiting these stores. Of course online has many more options, so if you're set of a specific style, then you probably will have an easier time finding it there. However sometimes you just need more hands on information, and then it can be much more useful to visit a local store where there is a friendly and knowledgable staff.
