Recently, I looked up the definition of a cocktail dress, as I needed to purchase one for an upcoming party. Well, I'll let you in on some of the definitions: formal clothing, formal attire, full dress, dress suit, cocktail dress, evening dress - should I go on? Yes, I wanted something in a street length, dressy, but not overdone, classic and simple - what could be easier and should I say, all at a reasonable cost. Well, the selection at JCPenney from brands such as american living, jessica howard, joneswear and nine & co were quite impressive. Black offered the most choices, but blues, purples, beiges, reds and whites were right there too.
The evening cocktail dresses in designs of beaded, draped, lace, shutterpleats, satin, pleated, ruffles, two-tones, rhinestone trims, mesh, jacket dress or a smashing animal print were notable and exciting. The choices were alluring, sexy, fun, romantic and dramatic. Perfect for a party or any evening affair. Now to choose. Did I want sleeves? no sleeves? straight or full? black, navy or purple? long or short? v-neck or scoop? satin or jersey? So, I had a great time trying on all these beautiful cocktail dresses that were exactly what I was looking for - classic with understated elegance and a touch of sexiness.
