The Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, Britain Young's Double Chocolate stout is a rich, creamy milkshake of a beer.

Young's Stout was as smooth as a Guiness but more fulfilling like a good cup of hot coco on a cold day. This is a great social pub drink that I prefer to be served in a frozen mug. The ice cold stout contrasted by the warming flavors makes for a wonderful combination.

Young's Stout poured black with a beautiful tan well laced head. I usually pick this up in the can, which contain the nitro widget. The can variety with the widget helps develop a creamy and succulent head with great retention.

Coffee and chocolate dominated the aroma as soon as this is poured.

The flavors of this beer are mirrored from the aroma. This stout was nutty with some light bitterness that was complimented by the chocolate sweetness.

The mouth feel was just silk. The creamy head added a lot of body to this stout and the overall experience. I will add, having a Young's Double Chocolate Stout is just that, an experience.

To sum this stout up - Chocolaty Delicious!

Personally, I prefer the can to the bottle as the nitrogen widget adds more creaminess to the texture. However, the can or bottle exampe are both excellent but if you have a choice go for the can.

Rich without being heavy, decadent, velvety smooth, like a chocolate Caffrey's. Would be wonderful to drink in front of a roaring fire on a freezing winter night.

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

-- Benjamin Franklin

The Beer Prayer
Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
They will be drunk,
At home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foam head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and the lager,
Forever and ever.
Amen
