I picked up this beer because of the bottle and to sound like a broken record, I am still in an IPA mood.  After I decided to grab this, I asked one of the guys at the beer store how it was and he recommended it.

It was not the greatest IPA I ever had but it was not that bad.

I knew right away that I would not be crazy about it.

After I poured the amber colored ale, the aroma from the hops was weak and not especially floral.  The hops are there but they were not in your face like I prefer.

The flavor was not especially hoppy either.  The flavor was lighter with light dry caramel malts and a bitter backbone.  The finish was almost chalky as it was so dry and bitter.  As the beer warmed it was almost watery.

The body was medium to light and the carbonation about average.

The flavor was enjoyable but as an IPA I thought it lack a good hop kick.  As a stand-alone beer I give it a B but a solid C- as an IPA.   There really was not a lot of flavor.   In summary I was pretty ambivalent towards this beer.

"Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

-- Benjamin Franklin

The Beer Prayer
Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
They will be drunk,
At home as in the tavern.
Give us this day our foam head,
And forgive us our spillages,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer,
The bitter and the lager,
Forever and ever.
Amen
