I have yet to have a bad beer from Trader Joe's and that includes their Bohemian Lager. From the bottle's label, this appears to be their take on a Czech pilsner as it was not clear. In any case this was a full flavored lager that was very refreshing and the type of beer that is great to have on hand. Even better this is a 5% ABV beer at a TJ's price. TJ's Lager poured golden with a white, big bubble head that did not last long. The aroma was interesting as it was bready and laced with banana notes like a wheat which this is not. These notes were also pungent and sharp. This was certainly malty with a lot of raw grain flavors. It was also very yeasty and the banana notes from the aroma carry over in the flavor. Light orange notes compliment the yeast flavors nicely. The body was lager light with a good amount of carbonation. Overally, I did like this beer. It really does not compare well to a traditional Pilsner on style like Pilsner Urquell. However this is a very nice stand alone beer.
