Awesome, and glad to find Tetley's as this is a fine substitute for Caffreys.
Tetley's poured a pale amber with one of the best heads. It was rich and creamy and best of all it had excellent retention. I finished 2/3 of the beer and the head was still apparent. I am sure the widget in the can had something to do with it.
The aroma was light but it was laced with some nice honey and caramel notes.
The taste was on the lighter side also, with very subtle vanilla, honey and caramel flavors. As the head had such good retention, all the light flavors seemed as if they were creamed. Some might say the flavors were on the bland side but i would rather say it is delicate. At the end beer finished with just a slight hoppy bitterness and sharpness.
The carbonation was very light and this helped give the beer a very velvety and silky mouth feel resulting in a rich character. I still cannot get over this as it was really silky and I mean silky the texture of this beer was.
It has been a long time since I have Caffrey's but from what I remember it was a lot like this. If nothing else, this was as silky smooth as Caffery's.
