Saranac's IPA poured a light amber-gold with a nice well laced white head that had good retention.

The aroma was tame for an American IPA, as the floral hops were lighter and dominated more by the sweet roasted malts.

However do not be fooled by the light hop aroma as this was a nice hopped up IPA.   In many ways this reminded me of New England Brewing - Sea Hag IPA which I consider one of my favorites.

Part of the reason was Saranac's IPA is a medium to heavy body drink with a lighter amount of carbonation which was similar to Sea Hag.

This did not have the richness of Sea Hag as the flavors were watered down and this also was brighter with a lot more citrus.  In both beers the malts were deeper providing much of the character - with sweeter caramel flavors.

The Cascade hops opened up in the back of the throat which Sea Hag also did.

Saranac as a brewer is very consistent as few of their beers are great but all of them are very good especially when they are on sale.  This IPA is not great like Sea Hag but still a good drink.
