I picked this up as part of Saranac's Beers of Summer seasonal collection. Like Saranac's other beers, this wheat is a very nice product but was really their loose interpretation in this case of a German hefewiezen. This wheat poured the expected cloudy gold with a loose white head. Of course there were the traditional banana and clove notes from the aroma. As with their other beers, the Hefeweizen flavor profile was rather flat and did not surprise. I thought the aroma was stronger than the actual flavor as the banana flavors were tempered and did not overpower. However the cloves were stronger finished with a good hoppy bitterness. The general flavor was earthy and raw but overall rather mellow. The finish is what makes this beer as the hops are tangy having a German quality. I did enjoy the robust carbonation and thought the body was medium to light. This was a very nice beer. Even those that do not not like hefeweizen's may come around to this. I was also surprised to find some sediment at the bottom of my glass.
